Pamela Mars Vintage Glamour

Two shots from a great spring creative shoot with Pamela Mars with the help of make up genius Candace Lim. Pam supplied the wardrobe and idea and challenged me to give it a nice vintage look. I’d like to think things worked out quite nicely. I plan to add an image or two from the series in the future. Stay tuned.

Telus Fish

I been working as a digital artist on the Telus campaigns since 2003. This campaign has always been a big inspiration for me when I first started out in photography. It’s given me a chance to grow as a digital artist and work with many art directors from the Taxi agency. Amongst the work I do this campaign tends to be the one that gets the instant recognition and reaction, which is likely a good reason why the core idea behind it has not changed in years.

On the technical side it presents many challenges as peoples perception of animals, especially small animals, tends to be different from reality when tiny animals are blown up to superboard proportions. The retouching is a balancing act of keeping the animals looking natural and making them look pristine for the audience. The other part of the retouching is creative compostion which has a varying degree of difficult depending on the animal and creative requirements.

Movember Timelapse Project

Sugino Studio participated in Movember this year. We started all clean shaven and decided to do 24 frames per day for each person to make into a little time-lapse. With our personalities things got quickly slightly wacky. I put a video together in Adobe After Effects with some music I arranged in Apple’s Logic. Out Team name was ‘How Mo can you can Go’.

47 Booth Motion Studio

A brief look at Sugino Studios’ second location. It a large space (4550 sq feet) that have used on shoots that included elephants and several vehicles. The central point is our Broncolor Megalite, a fully motorized flash system powered by 5 Bron color packs and holding 20 flash heads. Our large still image projects are shot here, generally any thing that involves a set build or cars. It’s primarily our Motion studio now, but we still occasionally shoot stills there, especially when ti comes to car jobs which greatly benefit from the reflections that we can shape with the Bron Megalite.

This is from a little Staff Halloween session I set up at Sugino Studio. The resemblance to the Glorious leader Kim is uncanny.

Pamela Mars – MUA/ Candace Lim

Pam has been one of the easiest models to shoot with. Even though she was a little under the weather (can’t tell from the shots) she performed wonderfully. She seems to effortlessly flow between poses. Once we established the concept I didn’t need to guide her at all. She knows what looks good on camera.

Budweiser Superbowl Plane

Photo by Shin Sugino | Digital Post by Maciej Roszkowski

We shot this summer 2008.  Shin actually took the crew to the airport to get the air plane and runway. The sky is the real thing from location. I split the retouching duties on this shot with Miho. She worked on the individually shot ladies while I did the comping. I believe the final shot had grass added to it as some later stage. Multiple versions might be out in the wild.
